Marcos Freitas is a Portuguese table tennis player born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. He was born on the 8th of April, 1988. He started playing table tennis when he was seven years old, and he had had multiple coaches developing him into the player he is today.

Career

At the youth level, Marcos was an instant hit, participating in multiple tournaments from 2006-2010. He won gold medals in all competitions he played in until then, except the 2003 Worlds junior championships.

In 2008, he played in his first-ever Olympics. Still, unfortunately, he was eliminated in the round of 64, but then in the same year, he went on to win the bronze medal in the European championships with his club at the time. One of the highlights of his stellar career was when he teamed up with Andrej Gacina, and the duo took their impressive partnership to the Table Tennis European Championships and won it in 2011.

Marcos kept on training and practicing at the Werner Schlager Academy. He then graduated from playing the youth table tennis team and started playing professionally in the adult section. He had already played in multiple clubs and represented his country internationally, so he can boast of being an experienced player. In 2012, he played in the team's category at his second Olympics with Tiago Apolonia and Joao Monteiro, reaching the round of 32 and quarterfinals, respectively.

Marcos kept on improving himself, and in 2015, he went on to represent his county at the European games in the team's edition, and he won gold.

But that wasn't all he participated in at the tournament. In the singles event, he won the silver medal as well. He plays for the Kinoshita Meister team in Tokyo, Japan, and he represents them in multiple cup and league matches. In 2014, he played in the Czech Open and European Championships and won gold for singles and team editions. A successful 2015 followed as he played in the 1st European games, Qatar open, and won gold medals for team and doubles editions.
